Dear Friends,
Thank you for caring for the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail! You have contributed to the
preservation of a historic right-of-way in our state. The trail connects us: to our past as an industrial
and agrarian people, to the here and now, embracing vibrant urban energy with peaceful landscapes
of our suburbs and countryside, and to a less-polluting future. Those connections sustain us! It
was an honor, with our sister association the Farmington Valley Trails Council, to receive the Harlan
H. Griswold award for historic preservation from Preservation Connecticut and the Connecticut
Historic Preservation Office this past May. This recognition underscores the importance of the word
“heritage” in our trail’s official name, and we could not be more grateful.
