FARMINGTON VALLEY TRAILS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES
NOV. 16, 2018 6:30PM
The not-for-profit Farmington Valley Trails Council will hold its Annual Meeting on Friday, November 16th, at 6:30 pm. It will be held at the Avon Senior Center at 635 West Avon Road, (the Sycamore Recreation Area) Avon, CT 06001. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
We are pleased to announce that our speaker this year is Anne O'Regan.
In 2010 Anne O'Regan left her home in Boston and traveled west to do what, on average, only 300 people accomplish each year. Starting in Campo, California (on the Mexican border), she backpacked north for 2,650 miles on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Traveling through California, Oregon and Washington, she completed her thru-hike five months later in Manning Park, Canada. Join us as Anne shares tales from the trail, and offers a unique visual presentation.
Anne spent most of her adult life living and working in downtown Boston, then left corporate America behind to venture west to walk the PCT. She has thru-hiked other long trails, including the Colorado Trail, the John Muir (twice), and Vermont's Long Trail (twice). Anne is the author of Tamed. A City Girl Walks From Mexico To Canada On The Pacific Crest Trail. Her book is available on her website: anneoregan.com and will also be available the evening of her presentation. A Boston native, she currently divides her time between Connecticut and Maine.
